Did you know?

Did you know that just one bit of color anywhere on the page constitutes a color copy?

Are you aware that color copies cost 7 to ten times more than black copies?

Did you know that you can have your copier/printer default to black?  By having the machine set to default to black, the end users need to specifically ask for color copies if/when they need them.  Organizations who do this significantly reduce the amount of color pages coming out of the machine and, ergo, the reduce the color copier bills as well.

Some copier companies actually charge for shipping the toner that is included in the service contract.  Organizations who are unaware that this is a nuisance charge that can be avoided can pay hundreds of dollars in these unnecessary (and borderline unethical) shipping charges throughout the life of their contract.

The documentation fee on a new lease is negotiable.  Copier companies can charge two or three times what the bank documentation fee actually is.  The bank allows them to amend the document with the higher fee and then keep the difference!  Not only can you ask for a lower fee, you can refuse to pay any documentation fee at all and 99% of copier companies will absorb that fee for you.

Interim rent is the period between the delivery of a new machine and the first billing period.  You pay that portion of your monthly payment for that time period which usually makes the first bill rather hefty.  Interim rent should be completely avoided.  Tell your copier company you won’t pay interim rent and have them set up the billing and delivery accordingly.
